The trouble with a conservatory is that they have a glass roof. The trouble with that is that the roof is not insulated. The trouble with that is that it can be very hot in there during the summer, and very cold during the winter. The trouble with that is that I sew in the conservatory, and some days I would need to wear a bikini (not a pretty sight) and other days I would need my hat coat and gloves. So we decided to have a new, insulated ceiling put it to help (hopefully) solve the problem.
So here are the before the guys arrived photos
when our dining room looked like this
A few hours later, the conservatory looked like this
and when they left a few days later, it looked like this
Next stage is to get ourselves painted, which should happen the week after next.
Then, perhaps, I can get back to sewing!
It is going to be so wonderful.
ReplyDeletethe view is still lovely!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty room!! I can see you all snug in here sewing to your hearts content...and at the right temp!! Can't wait to see your machine and fabric all in place!
ReplyDeleteP
Definitely my place then for our next sewing day 😄
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be fantastic, Sue! This is exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're going to have a wonderful space! It will be worth the trouble.
ReplyDeleteI can just see geraniums growing nicely in that room. How exciting.
ReplyDeleteThat should make a huge difference. Have fun painting.
ReplyDeleteThere once was a quilter named Sue,
ReplyDeleteIn the winter she'd quilt and turn blue.
In the summer you'd see.....
Her in a small bikineee,
That delightful quilter named Sue!
ROFL Lynn's limerick. I quilt on my sun porch and it gets quite chilly out there during the winter.
ReplyDeleteYeah a nice cosy comfortable sewing room with the still lovely big windows for views and light, lucky you!
ReplyDeleteI sew agree I had a conservatory in a previous life and in the winter it was so cold we had to have a de humidifer running all the time. Wonderful light though for stitching. Trust the new roof solves the problem
ReplyDeleteThere was a young quilter named Sue
ReplyDeleteWho didn't know quite what to do
The winter was cold
Which made her feel old
And the summer just made her go Phew!
Thanks Lynn, you definitely brought out the 'silly' in me this evening :)
What a great place to sew. And now you will do it comfortably!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it will be a fabulous space for you to sew!
ReplyDeleteDon't think I can be as smart as a few others with ditties, but the pins would hurt with little clothes on and I'm sure I'd be too clumsy in gloves, so either way it's sure going to make a difference. Take care.
ReplyDeleteawesome!!
ReplyDeleteYou brought back vivid memories of my time in England rental home. I loved it during the sunny Winter days as the sun baked that room. I had many afternoon cat naps! But the Summer, no AC was killer! I like your new roof idea. Do you have heat out there? We did.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI guess I have missed my chance to visit you on a bikini day.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Room !!!!!
ReplyDeletedo you think you will miss the glass roof? I am sure you will enjoy the insulation perks!
ReplyDeleteSad to lose all that glass but sewing in coat, hat and mitts just doesn't work, does it?!
ReplyDeleteOh my - I do sympathize with your dilemma, Sue! I don't sew in a conservatory, but my sewing room has the same problem! I'm afraid I'd scare the cats if I wore a bikini - not to mention Mr. Squash! I hope the new roof does the trick!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
