How do you know when ....

.... it's time to stop?

When you're doing more of this

than this.
Which is why I'm now writing this post instead of making my blocks.

I had 5 blocks, to sew together to make a row.  Simple eh?  Nope, not for me today.  There are 2 different blocks alternating in a row, but it still should be simple shouldn't it?  Sew blocks 1 and 2 together, sew blocks 3 and 4 together, sew the pairs together then sew block 5 on the end of the row.  Well, that's the theory.  I sewed them together in the wrong order.  I unsewed it. I sewed them together with a couple of the blocks upside down.  I unsewed it.  I finally got the row right, sewed it to the previous row, then realised it was upside down.  I unsewed it.  I sewed it together correctly, finally.  Pressed it and walked away for today.

  1. Been there, done that. Good choice for today. Tomorrow they'll go together perfectly.

  2. I think you and I sew very much alike! The last project I was sewing on, I congratulated myself for not sewing anything together wrong. Then I put the blocks up on the wall, and yes, you know it, several were wrongly assembled! So I guess the good thing is--you noticed~!

  5. Been there. I once sewed a zipper upside down in the back of a dress. Probably the best sewn zipper of my life but getting into the dress was not happening. This to shall pass.

  6. I think every single one of us has done that!!!! In my younger days, it would end up in the trash can. Now, I just unsew & try again.

  8. Oh my! Been there done that! It was definitely time to walk away. It is sooooo frustrating when I do that. Hopefully the next time you sit down at your machine, things will go better.

  9. I hate when that happens! But I love the Lollipops fabric that you're using! I can't wait to see what you're doing with it!

  10. I had the same problem today. In fact, I took one block and cut it to pieces!!!! I decided to put the quilting aside for a bit and concentrate on something else.

  14. Yeah, I've been there too! Thankfully, I've learned to listen instead of forcing it. That always ends badly.

  17. Sue, if we lived on the same continent, I would say there is something in the water causing this seam ripper epidemic! I had a bad day yesterday and ended up throwing four blocks away. Today was much better at the machine.

  18. I didn't make a stitch today; and that seems even sadder! I am happy that you found time to sew today and hope things go well for you next time.

  21. I'm an expert when it comes to unsewing as I call it.
It's always worth it in the end.

  22. Oh Sue, you make it sound so funny!! But I can sympathise, as I have done very similar things myself, and it IS very frustrating. Hope you have better luck with it when you try again. Hugs n Blessings from Sue.
