....
There I was the other night, Mr Fixit was out, there was nothing on TV, just the perfect evening to wrap Christmas presents I thought. So I put some suitable music on, got things organised, wrapped the first couple of things, and then realised something. I had forgotten to buy any gift labels. Without them I could still wrap everything, but I wouldn't have a clue later which package was for whom. That could have made for an interesting Christmas Day couldn't it?
Once my Mom wrapped all the gifts for us NINE children and put numbers on them and then LOST the master list. It did make for an interesting Christmas day. Merry Christmas Sue.
ReplyDeleteThat could have been a very funny Christmas morning!
ReplyDeleteSounds like Santa Lotto! Alternate labels could be scraps of fabric or the back side of the wrapping paper... or writing directly on the wrapping paper to cover later with a label. Sticky notes?
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely Christmas Day and a very safe and happy New Year!
Been there....done that. I used sticky notes until I could get to the store. I almost always run out of tape.....now that can't be helped with sticky notes!
ReplyDeleteLOL When the kids were small I would wrap each one's gifts in a particular color of paper~ the hard part was always remembering who had which color! ;-) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLOL - I did that on purpose one year! As everyone opened a gift they picked from under the tree they had to hold on to it - when all the gifts were opened they had to guess who it belonged to. We had so much fun. LOL
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things to keep in mind at this time of year that we all must have incredible memories to do all that gets done. When I had this happen to me I made tags from the gift wrap. I don't think the kids would care what you used. Hope it all worked out. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYou could have printed some gift labels off the internet. Always a thought.
ReplyDeleteOops!
ReplyDeleteI like Sandie's idea, and Darlene's too but with a house full of small children I can see chaos and possibly some tears. I'm sure you found a solution in the end.
Ooops! Been there many times. I always run out of tape and can't remember where I put the extra rolls. This year it was while wrapping my son's TV. It's sealed with packing tape lol.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were old enough to wrap presents as kids my step-mother started having us wrap everything. She would put everything in gift boxes with numbers on them. Something was always mixed up though. My poor brother would end up with girl's underwear, bras, or makeup. Poor kid.
I usually wrapped in a certain paper. Played the number game one year, layed them all out on the floor upside down, told a kid a number and they had to flip the packages over one at a time to find their number, kinda like playing memory. After 6 hours they kids didn't want to play anymore, so I just flipped them all over and gave them their gifts to open. Now they are bigger, you have them pick one, unwrap it, then everyone else guesses who it belongs to, then it is given to the right person, and that person goes and gets a gift and repeats......sometimes everyone thinks it is theirs. Sometimes you forget who you really bought it for too!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who used post it notes one year, lol.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I cut the front of last years cards for tags -
ho ho ho
opps! I've done that. this year, I ended up buying 3 sets of name tags, just in case I forgot to buy some lol.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Sue!
Oppsie! Merry Christmas Sue. It could be a surprise Christmas for everyone hehe!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a Merry Christmas! Thanks for your card it was certainly the furtherest traveled.
ReplyDeleteI've done that with the gift tags too. The trick is to write on that piece of tape the back in pen the name of who it's for and then when you have tags you just check the tape and write the tag.
I am always forgetting those. I just make them out of wrapping paper usually. Or use sharpies to write on the presents. I'm so lazy!
ReplyDeleteCould have added and interesting element of surprise to your Christmas. I hope you had a fabulous day and that the New Year brings fun and fabulous sewing.
