I made the stack'n'whack kaleidescope blocks at a workshop in about 2005, but I didn't want to make them into a quilt, so..... this tote is the result. The pocket made from 4 blocks is just the right size to take a 12 1/2" square ruler, and the long pocket on the other side takes a standard 6" x 24" ruler. The other 3 outside pockets take whatever I want them to take. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had made the bag the other way round, so that it is not so deep, but there we go, nobody's perfect! (Specially not me!)
You never know, tomorrow I might show you what I've been working on recently.......
Love this bag...boy could I use it on the way to the clubhouse on Wed. - You should see me - three trips it took me last time and I still forgot something- YIKES the fabric would you believe!! What a great way to use up those left over blocks!!
ReplyDeleteTake care!!
Paulette
Love it! I've done a purse, but not a bag and one day I'll settle down and make a bag. I really like yours! You know, I just thought that might be a way to use up orphan blocks with a little changing around. Oooh, so many ideas and not enough settling down to work--for me anyway! Could spotting other people's blogs take me away from said projects??? <<>>> Cheers!
ReplyDeletevery nice and what a great way to use blocks that you didn't want to make into a quilt!
ReplyDeleteYou know I am a Bag Lady!! I love what you did and I also love "Stack n Whack".
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what your working on now Sue!!
Good idea to use some of the orphan blocks I have left over from projects. I love the bag and the blocks are amazing.
ReplyDeleteYour bag is great, and the blocks are pretty! Nice way to use blocks that you don't want to put in a quilt, quite useful too.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty tote! I love seeing stack 'n whack quilts, but I've never made one! I'll have to give it a try soon. Happy to see you come up for air!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for using up orphan blocks!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you made the pockets all different sizes. I've never made stack-n-whack blogs - very clever!
ReplyDeleteOhh, great bags! I'm trying not to be a bag lady only because I don't want to try a new thing... I know, I'm bad. Although I do have an almost finished Stack n Whack quilt. So close to finish you'd shake your finger at me!!!
ReplyDeleteGood ideal for your extra block, like the bag. Was hopeing my daugther would put my quilt top on today so it could be seem, but I guess she didn't have time. I'm working on a tables runner and my sampler quilt now, so maybe she will do my picture for me. I enjoy you blog and what you makes. HAPPY SEWING!
ReplyDeleteGreat bag and a great way to use up spare blocks.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs Gina xx
Love the bag. Great use of quilt blocks. Bags are fun to make - Hugs Nat
ReplyDeletewhat a clever use for those blocks.
ReplyDeletelove the new layout, very stylish.
Love your bag, and a very good way to use blocks...think I need to go hunt out some of my blocks!
ReplyDeleteThe colours are lovely - subtle. You are tall enough to manage the bag that way up. Smaller people would be dragging it on the floor! Still, sometimes you lose things in the bottom of a big bag don't you?
ReplyDeleteOh, gorgeous bag! I love all the pockets and the different sizes...You have my mind working now. Maybe a PERFECT way to use up some of my orphan/UFO blocks that I don't want to make more of!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Sue, thanks!
