Am I still here?

Yes I am, but I bet you never knew I could be so quiet did you?  Don't anybody tell Mr Fixit though, as he'll want to know why I can't be so quiet all the time!

Why have I been so quiet?  Cos it's January, and I HATE January (I hate February too by the way).  I can't seem to get my brain in gear and have Bloggers' Block and Quilters' Block.  Would you believe, I haven't picked up a needle or plugged a sewing machine in since before Christmas?  It's just not good enough, I must get a grip.

Last week I was given a Kindle for my birthday, and I love it.  It's great to be able to order a book and have it magically appear on the Kindle just a few seconds later, and I love how easy it is to use too.

I also received this lovely quilted card from Trudi.  The quilting is just beautiful.  Thanks so much Trudi.

Also I have acquired a "new-to-me" smartphone.  It is my Mrs Nomad's old Blackberry, which she gave me when she upgraded to an iphone last week.  Anyway, having registered it and got a new phone number from Orange, yesterday I've broken it already!  I decided it would be a good idea to wipe all the info she had on it before I connected it to my email, so I did what they call a "security wipe".  That, it turns out, was a stupid thing to do.  Now I have lost the option to connect to any email unless it's a special business one.  Not quite sure what to do about this as the obvious solution of doing a "restore" didn't work.

Anyway, talking of Christmas (well I did mention it earlier), The Christmas Quiltalong will be back soon.  I'll let you all know the details just as soon as we've worked them out.

  1. I do hope you get your Blackberry up to full speed. That technology has left me in its dust. I use my cellphone so little, I downsized to the "grandparent" program--saved me a bundle. My texting is improving, but my thumbs still hit too many keys! LOL! Kindle is on my Amazon wish list--someday :) Sounds like a great thing to have.

    Christmas Quiltalong sounds fun.

January is such a dull month!!! Hope you get your verve back soon.

  6. Hi Sue, good to have you back. I know what you meant about quilter's block in Jan/Feb. I used to get that big time, but now I know better so I planned ahead and have so many things to do that I don't have time for the BLOCK to get at me! Funny phone business. Get yourself and iPhone. It's great - Hugs Nat

  8. Hi Sue, I haven't done much sewing this year either, don't worry, it'll come back. I'm looking forward to starting up the CQAL again, it really got me going last year.

  10. Love the quilted card!! So pretty. I'm not a fan of cell phones. I think it's silly that they call them smart phones!! I call them a piece of poo most of the time! LOL! :-)

  16. I'm another Kindle lover. Mine is read every day - several times. I really love its portability. Great when waiting for aged parents at hospital appointments!

  19. Technology is amazing when it works, it's just getting it working!

I was quite impressed by the Kindle when my sister in law got one for Christmas, the screen looks just like a proper page of a book.

As I follow your blog I'll keep an eye out for your announcement of the Quiltalong. Best start early I guess, just over 11 months to go....

  20. Enjoy the Kindle! Love mine, especially the ability to book shop anytime, anywhere!

It's funny but I'm on a quilting/binding marathon and the more I do, the more I want to do....it feels good to catch up a bit!

  21. There is nothing wrong with a little break. Enjoy it!

I was wanting and Ipad..but now I am wanting a Nook. It is more Kindle like and comes Wi-Fi enabled. Powered by Droid. My bday is in a few days. I doubt I'll get one...because I need a sewing machine even more so!

  22. Good luck with the Blackberry, sorry I can't help on that front. I thought it was just me having a hard time getting it on with my sewing! Your mojo will be back very soon, I'm sure!

  24. Poor thing! If it's any consolation, I'm a real idiot when it comes to gadgets. When people ask for my cell phone number, I always provide it with the explanation that my cell phone lives in the bottom of my purse with the power turned off. :-) I've been thinking lately about getting a smart phone, but it's a little intimidating to me.

Trudi's quilted card is so pretty! I love the feather design.

    Hope you warm up soon!

  25. Happy Belated Birthday. Hopefully your phone is better now (aka you handed it over to someone else and they fixed it).
