Do you make ....

... New Year's resolutions?  Nope, me neither.

As I mooched around in blogland yesterday, I realised that almost everyone had been busy making resolutions, setting themselves goals, challenging themselves to learn something new, and reviewing the past year.  It seems like I'm the only person who hasn't been doing any of these things.  So why haven't I?  I think it's cos if I did, I'd spend half of 2011 writing out my lists, and the other half feeling exhausted!  It's also cos I know myself too well, so why set myself up for failure?

I am going to try and stop being Mrs Prevaricator though, so for that reason, I'm getting of this computer NOW and going to put some washing in the machine.

  5. I only make a resolution that I know I can keep. My resolution this year is to finish one UFO. I think I can keep this one since the quilt is so close to being finished!

  9. Nope, me neither! While it's easier this time of year for new routines for personally, I don't feel the need to document them and be held accountable for them - otherwise I would be depressed all the time for the failures.

So, Happy New Year and enjoy life one day at a time!!

  10. Very practical! I figure, I met my New Year's resolution last year, so why have one this year?!

  11. No resolutions for me either. I do set quilting goals for myself each month. And if I don't do them - no worries! Quilting is suppose to be fun.

  12. Noresolutions, though I try to have an achievable goal, something sensible such as improving my creativity! Or maybe working on improving just one technique. That's achievable right? As long as remember he he!

  13. Thank heavens! I thought I was the only one refusing to be resolute. My rationale (because I need one, in case anyone asks :)) is that the best things always happen when you're doing something you shouldn't.

  15. I used to always feel pressured to make resolutions, now not so much.
This year I did not make any.
I DO, however, want to lose lots of weight.
But that is an ongoing process, not a resolution IMO. hugs!

  16. I'm with you Sue, I think it's just a way to set yourself for failure. So why spell it out for oneself?

  18. Looks like you're not alone Sue, no resolutions here either! I also gave them up several years ago, but I am going to continue with last year's attempt at finishing up some more WIPs. The blog helps because I have them all listed, so there's no forgetting what I've got tucked away in a drawer :o)

  19. No i don't do New Year Resolutions well i would only break them lol
I do however have a rule in that i can't start something new until i finish what i am working on of course if i am doing blocks for swaps that don't count or if i run out of something i can start something but once it arrives then that has to be finished first i do this for my quilting & knitting so i don't have loads of UFOs well i take up enough space with my stashes lol

  20. Happy New Year
I make flexible resolutions - doesn't that sound wimpy? But then I save myself from the punishment if I don't stick with things.
