As some of you know, I have been staying with my friend Bilbo at Bag End for a few days. We had a wonderful time with lots of chatting, teasing each other, putting the world to rights, etc - all the usual things friends do when they get together.
Since I was travelling home again yesterday, we decided to start our Quiltalonging on Friday instead, so we would have the whole day to play together. We both decided to work on our Christmas Challenge quilts - you know the one: no red or green fabrics to be used and a maximum size of 96". (Wonder who on earth came up with such a stupid idea?)
So anyway, we started with this: French Toast (would you believe I had never had French Toast before?) with yummy strawberries picked from Bilbo's garden about 5 minutes earlier and creme fraiche.
Then we set to work. This is what the sewing room looked like before we started:

I had planned to carry on with mine today at home, but really it's too darn hot (as someone once sang) to sit in the conservatory where I sew today. What I am going to do though, is visit everyone else who's linked up with Hazel (go here to see who's taking part) and see what is happening around the world. Don't forget to check out Hazel's blog too, she has already had some fun things happening yesterday, and I know there'll be more fun today.

ReplyDeleteNever had French Toast. Is it not a common thing in your part of the world? People make it different ways. I suppose not the healthiest thing to eat but I do like it very much.
ReplyDeleteI like the "after" photo of creativity much better. My hubby puts salt on his French toast and I put maple syrup. To each, their own.

ReplyDeleteLove french toast, but we sometimes call it eggy bread. Looks like you've made a good start on your blocks, but is that purple and orange I see. Glad you had a good time with Bilbo.
ReplyDeleteI wish my sewing room looked so neat, even after you got started it still looks good. Love French Toast; it's the best way to use up day old bread. Those berries look perfect. Yeah, who did that "no red or green" thing; makes for a real challenge, doesn't it? Smiles!

French toast: Sorry Joanna, I never use bread! I make our French Toast with sliced brioche which is sweeter and richer. OzSue, yes, it is exactly the same as eggy bread (and the eggs came from my friend half a mile up the road!)
No Christmas sewing here I'm afraid, too hot.

ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of strawberries fresh from the garden. The local wildlife seems to eat everything before we have a chance to try it.
ReplyDeleteHow on earth have you managed to get by without having had french toast? It was a staple at our house to use up the stale bread.

ReplyDeleteWell, did you like the French Toast? I seldom have it as it's fattening and so rich. (My hubby makes the best!) Nice to job on the sewing. I ought to try that again soon.
