... if you read Hazel's blog, here you will see that she has been commissioned to make a quilt and she has decided to go for Starstruck, from my book. The only thing is, she wanted to make 10" blocks rather than 12" as in the original, so I offered to re-work the cutting instructions for her. When I had done it, I decided to make a test block, just in case my brain had been fried in the heat, so I pulled out 3 ugly fabrics and had a go. The good news is that my calculations were right, so I put the block on my design wall to take a photo of it to send Hazel, and then realised that I really like the block in these ugly fabrics. What do you think?
The reason the joke's on me? Having decided I like the block, I don't have enough of the fabrics to make any more!
I think.you're right...it really is a pretty block. You're a sweetie to do up the new dimensions!
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics are beautiful together.
ReplyDeletePut it in a frame and enjoy it. It is actually "prety" in those fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI really like this block too , the fabrics don't look the least ugly !
ReplyDeleteMake a pillow. The block is too lovely to sit in a drawer.
ReplyDeleteYep, make a pillow! And be on the lookout for more of the same /similar fabrics.
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny Sue! Yes, I like the block too. How about a pillow? Small wallhanging? Table runner? I'm sure you will come up with something.
ReplyDeleteI love the block too. Love the colors! Elaine in CA
ReplyDeleteUmm nice cushion?!
ReplyDeleteI don't see ugly! Frame it!
ReplyDeleteI think it's bright and beautiful. I would make a doll quilt from it, lots of little girls would love those colors.
ReplyDeletePink and green - that was Ali's favourite colour combination :}
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to like?
(Make it into a place mat, you can practice free motion quilting on it ... ducking & running away)
Funny! Love the fabrics together, not "ugly" at all!
ReplyDeleteIt's prettier than my test block, Sue! ;-)
ReplyDeleteBut I have high hopes for my peach fabric & will show everyone how I get on, of course.
Thank you again for your help on this! :-)
I think it's wonderful she chose to do your quilt. So nice of you do re-do the instructions. I suppose it just goes to show that your block is so nice even uglies look good!
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteSee what happens when you use the ugly word?!
