Giveaway ...

Oops.  Edited to add that  I also wanted to say that there is no Christmas Quiltalong day in January.  The first one for 2012 will be on 11February, and our hostess will be Hazel from Hazel's Quilts, so don't forget to pay her a visit on that day.
... cos it's my birthday (well, it was yesterday) I decided last night that I should have a giveaway.  I bet you can't guess what you could win?  Yes, an autographed copy of my book is the prize.
All my life I have disliked having a birthday close to Christmas, and envied my sister, who has hers in June.  I've often thought I should be like the Queen, and have 2 birthdays.  She has a real one, and an official one.  Her official one is when all the ceremonial parades etc are held- and I guess that's when she has her ceremonial party, presents and cake too.  So, all you have to do is tell me when you think I should have my Official birthday.

Here's the small print.  The giveaway will close on Friday 20 January and I will ask Mr Random Generator to pick the winner on Saturday 21 January.  The giveaway is open to anyone, but followers will have an additional entry, as long as you tell me you are one. Finally, if you are a no-reply blogger, you will have to leave me an email address, so that I can contact you if you win.

  1. Happy Birthday Sue!!
Of course your official birthday should be June 25th (actually my son's!!) because it's halfway between one Christmas and the next!

  6. Happy Birthday! My birthday is next weekend and it does seem like everyone is just partied out in January, doesn't it? If you want to celebrate another day, how about picking a day that you like? My former manager had a son that was born on Christmas Eve. They always celebrated his birthday on June 24th instead with a big BBQ and pool party.

  7. Your official birthday should definitely be in July! You can have fireworks and a huge BBQ party! everyone will remember presents in July! Mine is in November and that is too close to Christmas too! I would love to have a copy of your book! Happy Birthday and thanks for the chance! I am also a follower.

  9. My cousin and two of her children have late December birthdays. They celebrated "Half Birthday" In June or July on the same date as their birthday, they celebrated. For instance, you could celebrate your half birthday on June 13th!!!! Go out for a meal! Make a cake! Treat yourself extra special!

Hope you have a fabulous week, month, year!!! Happy Birthday!

  12. I think May 1st should be the day you celebrate your birthday, in the lovely springtime when all the flowers are abloom. You're a May Day gal, aren't you? I am excited at the prospect of winning your book! I've got it on my wishlist, for the next time I'm out at a quilt shop. And since I follow, I get an extra chance!

My b-day is the 15th (tomorrow), but I never thought to do a giveaway. You always have the best ideas.

PS at least post Christmas you get stuff on sale? Well thats what just happened to me....I took back the pot plant holder DH brought me and he got me a really great printer at a bargin price...I was going to buy a new patchwork book with the money...but now I want my cake and to eat it to!

  27. Hi Sue! I think you should celebrate your real birthday! We are along in life for enough years to celebrate the Real Me! Not made up, not the one who makes everyone else happy!
On the day you were born, your family celebrated and shared the love of a new person in their family!
This is what you should celebrate!
Not your years but the welcoming you with LOTSA LOVE!
    Thanks for the giveaway!
    Take care, Leslie

  29. Happy Birthday. I wanted to have half birthdays for my sons, born between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It never happened. Your half birthday would be July 13th. What fun that would be.

  30. Happy Birthday Sue! I wouldn't mind sharing Oct. 17th with you. It's during the fall season (the bestest season) and it's right before the holiday time so everyone should have some money saved up to get you a cool present...lol! Thanks for having such an awesome giveaway!

Thanks for a chance as your signed book...I am a follower too.

  34. Obviously it should be March 10th! You can share with me, and it's close enough after Christmas that everyone can buy you the gifts that they forgot to get for Christmas, yet Christmas is long past. Until you decide, Happy Birthday yesterday!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I asked Harvey and he's happy to share so I think April 3rd would suit you. You. Could even celebrate from your actual birthday all the way through to the ceremonial one!

  37. I'm a new follower. My vote for when you should celebrate your Birthday is, June 18. it's my son's birthday, it's almost 6 mths. from Christmas. It works out great for him. You'd have a celebration every 6 mths. Happy Birthday! ;->

  38. I always hated that my birthday is Mar. 2nd. My twin brothers birthday is in August and the other brother's birthday is in June. They got to have parties at the park and have lots of fun. Not me. It was always too cold. Oh well, it is what it is. I would choose some time in June if I could have another day to celebrate. That way it is warm, but usually not too hot. Happy birthday to you. I am a follower.

  39. Hey, you could do like my nephew who was born on Christmas day-- we always had a small celebration on his actual day, but we had a BIG party on his HALF-birthday-- so you could have your official celebration on July 13! :-) Happy belated birthday! And thank you for the chance to win! That book looks wonderful and I LOVE autographed books!! :-)

  46. Happy Birthday!!
How about August?? Cause mine is August :)

  47. Yes - a birthday close to Christmas makes you feel "left out". Our son's birthday is on Christmas day (we celebrated his 27th this year with his new wife on a trip to Washington D.C.)
What we did is this - beginning at 6 months on June 25th - we celebrated his birthday - or should I say half birthday every year. This worked wonderfully for him and us.
Happy Birthday and I hope I win your book :)
    Smiles ;)

  57. Belated Happy Birthday wishes to you Sue. My brother in law had his just the day before yours and we celebrated it on Sunday with a surprise lunch for him(it was his 50th) with a gathering of friends and family. It might be nice to have an official birthday, but on the other hand it's nice to have something to celebrate post Christmas. Best wishes Sue

  61. Hi, I am now a follower. Thanks for the chance to win. Do what my daughter does, she picks a date every year (a different one each year) to celebrate her birthday...Hers is on January 8th. We all get a note letting us know on January 8th when her birthdate for the year is...is quite comical. Thanks.

Happy belated birthday! I think you should have you official birhtday on May 30th. Then your birthday comes months away from Christmas. My birthday is in november and I have always wanted to have my birthday in late spring or early summer. Some time like May 30th.
I would love to win your book with an autograph even if I have one before (- without an autograph). I'm a follower.
