Remember this ...

The quilt I asked you all to help me overcome the urge to make?

Yes, well, you were no help at all!  In fact, you were quite the opposite.

Quite a few of you even said that you would make one too, if I would run a quiltalong for it.

Well, thanks.  I thought you were meant to be my friends.

Then Jayne, from Jayne's Quilting Room encouraged me even more by saying that she would like to help host this mad project, sooo, here's what we are proposing:
  1. We will not be providing patterns or instructions, but we will try to suggest places where patterns are available;
  2. You can write posts about your progress on your blog, and then sign in to a Linky on one of our blogs on the first Saturday of the month, so we can see each other's progress (or not);
  3. There are no other rules/timescales/competitions/etc. except Rule 4 below;
  4. You have to encourage me cos I think I might struggle with this quilt.
I have put a button on my sidebar, with the code underneath for anyone who wants to help spread the word.

Now, I'm off to try and choose and order some fabrics, decide on the final design, etc.  I will have the linky here on Saturday, when I will also do a post showing what I've decided.

So, who's going to join us I wonder?  Or have you all thought better of it now?

  1. Good luck! I'm going to have to pass on this because I am absolutely NOT buying any new fabric, and I know my stash isn't up to this. Yes, I know, I'll be kicking myself later.....

  2. Blimey - I nearly had heart failure there, Sue - I thought you were proposing this as the 2012 Christmas QAL!!

    Too complicated for me, but I'm looking forward to ooo-ing and ahh-ing along with you all as you progress!

  3. My goodness Sue, with friends like you have, who needs enemies? They were not at all helpful! ;)

    That quilt design is just beautiful! I have sort of decided to refrain from purchasing any new fabric this year unless absolutely necessary, but I think I actually own a kit for a similar design and this might just be the motivation I need to break into it and get it going! So your friends may end up being helpful to me, even if they were not to you!

    Happy New Year!

  7. I have had this quilt pattern on my want to make list for years, even prior to actually becoming a quilter. The pattern I have is ancient and involves cutting templates and such. So I hope you can suggest a more modern pattern... if I can find one I just might have to make one too.

  8. Can't walk away from this challenge. Jumping in feet first, that's me. Should be fun, and I'll be making something I've never tried before. Thanks for the invitation to join in your "Mad Project."

  10. Oh my goodness. Just started this before Christmas... So far it's going really well, and as soon as I knock off this sick bug I've had for the past three days it will be going even better. Strip Method - I found an error in the free pattern I'm using but message me if you want the link and the error correction up the the point that I'm at.

  14. I've made 3 of these already & with strip piecing it's not so bad. Been thinking of making a new quilt for my bed. So crazy or not I'm in!

  16. I am in, and you can do it too!!!! They are very easy. This is one of those quilts that look sooo complicated, and are very easy. Show us what fabrics you pick out in the order you want to use them in your star, and we will all help you with suggestions if you should need to change anything. But I think you will do great.
