Am I the only one..........

.. who feels guilty when she hasn't posted anything for a few days?

I was thinking this evening, "I haven't written anything since Saturday, and I feel bad about it."  The reason for the silence is that I haven't really done anything worth talking about it, so why feel guilty?  Hence my question:

Am I the Only One?

I'd be interested to know if it is just me or if other people feel the same when they are quiet for a few days.

  1. Yep! I get to feeling guilty if I don't post for more than a couple of days.

  2. You are not alone. As a new blogger I put even more pressure on myself to post. Luckily I have a reserve of quilt and kittie pictures. Nothing new going on, post a picture of an old quilt and tell it's story. Works for me - hopefully it works for my readers also.

  3. Sometimes I have guilt about nothing to blog...some things I can't blog about and other thing won't blog about....I do what I can and this is all I can do. No guilt today...and guess what nothing to blog about...so I visit all else.

  6. Yes i get that guilty feeling too! If only we could extend the length of the day so we could fit in more quilting and blogging!

  7. There's a whole load of us out here feeling guilty because we are too busy with sewing projects, dealing with our everyday lives, and all the other stuff that the blogging has to take a rest. I may not post everyday, sometimes only once a week, but I do read everyones blogs everyday! I think we need to be a little kinder to ourselves and blog when we feel we have something to share (guiltfree!) Me included!

  8. Don't feel guilty i think we all have quiet moments some more than others i don't post every day & when i am doing a lot then i don't have as much time to post so it that catch 22 i enjoy reading when you do post so that is more important

  9. Yes, I think we all put this pressure on ourselves and it is hard to break that mindset.

I think how you approach your blog depends upon what you want from it. Mine is primarily to keep in touch with friends and family so they can see what we have been up to on our Lakeland adventure. I am not interested in getting the mostest number of page-hits from total strangers or being linked to from here, there and everywhere. Friends know that if I don't post it is because I am busy and have nothing to say.

If they are worried about me they pick up the phone or send an email. Seems to work well for all of us.

  11. I'm the same Sue. I haven't done much to shout about over the last few weeks so I'm struggling to find things to post about aswell. Well unless you want to hear about my housework and ironing.

    Love and hugs Gina xxx

  12. Good question - and have enjoyed reading the comments. It's nice to know we all share similar thoughts. This is my first year with blogging and I feel like an "underachiever" when I see people who have a new project posted every week! I am just soooooo slllloowwww:o) For me, just reading about everyone' daily doings is like sitting down with a friend over coffee. No matter where we live, we all have many of the same concerns, dreams and "quilty" thoughts!
Your Leaves Around the Cabin is so lovely - well done, indeed!!!

  13. Thanks everyone for all your comments. I think I have replied to everyone.

I have found it interesting to read what everyone else said, and at least it seems I am definitely not unique after all. (and all these years I thought I was!)

  14. If I'm not posting, I'm generally not doing much sewing or knitting. I feel worse about that than no blogging. It generally also means I've been working too much!

  15. I find that if I am busy sewing or doing family things then I have no time to post - when I am free from those, then I post. Perhaps not as often as I would like, but, like a lot of the other ladies, I always read what others are posting while having my morning cuppa. Unlike some, I like to know where my readers are coming from, so I have a widget to tell me and I am constantly amazed that anyone finds my blog! I have one lady who has chosen to be a follower, how she reads my blog I don't know as she doesn't speak English.

  16. Yes, I'm also used to posting some updates most days but this last week at Mom's I had very little to say and no photos -- I felt I was boring people.

  17. It's so funny that both of our quilts have the same leaves on them! I love your work; your quilts are stunning. Thanks for stopping by my blog. :) What was your most challenging quilt?

  18. Oh, oops I meant to answer your question about feeling bad about the lack of posts. My blog is new, so I feel like people won't come back if I don't have something new, but at the same time, I work full time and travel and hour each way to work. I also have other committments. With that said, I struggle between feeling bad and needing to keep my brain at peace. I don't want the blog to suck the fun out of quilting for me. So now I'm back to not letting myself stay in guilty land too long. :)

  20. I agree with many of the comments. I'm new to blogging, and I didn't realize how much time this all takes. I've been out of town for a week, with no time to give to my blog. Now that I'm back home, I hope to post something each day the rest of the week. We'll see. If not, I'm not going to feel guilty. LOL
Thanks for stopping by to visit. I'm going to scroll down and see your quilt. I tried to see as many as I could before I left town. Not certain if I saw your quilt yet.
