Here they are ...

... at last, my fabrics for the Lone Star quilt have arrived.  There were 2 packages, both coming from the same shop, both shipped on the same day.  11 days later, one of the packages arrived safely, but the other one seemed to have disappeared into thin air.  After waiting another week, I contacted the shop to ask them if they could investigate this disappearance.  You can guess what happened next, can't you?  Yep, the following day the missing package turned up.  Well, strictly speaking, it didn't turn up, but Royal Mail left me a note while I was out to say that they were holding the poor thing hostage until I paid a large ransom.  So what could I do?  I paid up, and now have all these fabrics ready for me to start my quilt at last.

BUT - I have a dilemma.  I seem to have accidentally ordered the black and the beige in the same pattern, so, should I change it for the black in this photo?

Any thoughts anyone?

By the way, this Saturday is the Lone Star Support Group meeting, with Jayne as our hostess over at Jayne's Quilting Room.

  1. I like the way everything goes together in picture one. The black and red fabric in photo two is really nice though...lol I am not help

  2. I really like the first grouping best. I don't think there's a problem with using the same pattern in different colors. (I love that pattern, by the way!)

  3. Normally I would say use the black in the second photo (change in scale and all that), however, for a Lone Star having too big a pattern can be distracting so it might be best to stick with the top fabrics.

What size are the strips you're cutting the diamonds from?

  6. I'll chime in with everyone else, I like the first picture's fabrics. I'm heading out to California this Friday, so I won't be able to join you on Saturday. Next month I'll be joining you.

  7. Pic 1 for me I think - I also prefer the smaller black print as it doesn't draw my eye as the larger print seems to, but as has been said - your quilt! Luv.........Ann J

  8. I'm glad your fabric finally arrived. If I were you, I'd go with the black that is the same print...the picure of the fabrics in photo one work really well together. Good luck!

  10. I'm liking the first set of fabrics; although the second black would make a dramatic statement among the other Lone Star fabrics. I'm sure you will make the choice that is right for your quilt.

  11. For a Lone Star I think the fabrics in the top picture would work best. You are going for color here. This is a tough choice though. The second black does add some pop to the fabrics. Depends on the look you are going for. Tough choice with two good options. I am sure that you will make the right choice.

Have a super great sewing and stitching day.

  15. It'll be fun watching your quilt take shape. For me, the top picture of fabrics would lend itself to the overall pattern of the star better.

  17. I see you went with the same black as the beige, good choice. I think that black and red will want to play in the borders. :-)
