You wanted to see it (well, one of you did anyway!), so here it is...my Disappearing 9-Patch top. I haven't put the borders on yet, that will be done tomorrow, all being well. As I have said, I love this pattern, it is so easy, and there can be so many different layouts. For years I have intended to make a Christmas quilt, and now I have.
Hope you like it, and if anyone wants to know how to make it, just let me know.
It's lovely Sue. I've recently discoverd this block and played with the possible layouts in EQ6. What size did you make the blocks?
ReplyDeleteYou bet I wanted to see it {giggle}. It looks fantastic, even better than I expected from your description. Well done that woman!
ReplyDeleteIs that the whole top, is it getting borders, is it getting bigger, what batting, what quilting pattern - what a lot of questions from someone who ought to be peeling potatoes!
It looks great, Sue. This year I'm hoping to make a Christmas quilt too, not sure I'll get to it, but it's on the list.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you posted the pic, Sue, as I didn't understand a word of your previous post {g}.
ReplyDeleteI'm terrible at visualising - will you use the rich dark green for a border, perhaps?
I've only ever seen these done very scrappy...I like this controlled look. Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. Disappearing Nine Patch seems to be a popular pattern at the moment. Will be putting it on my to do list.
ReplyDeleteLove it Sue! I must quilt mine before christmas, shame to let it sit for a year or two! In fact, I must make a bigger one!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! You are inspiring me to get out my Christmas fabrics.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! This looks different from a lot of the disappearing nine-patch quilts I've seen. I love the layout. Thanks for sharing the picture!
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt...come on give us a quick tutorial!! Inquiring minds want to know....
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Paulette
SP,
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely. I really like the Diappearing 9 Patch! I thought you were just being polite and refering to when your blocks slip down behind the cutting table, causing you to swear :)
Or maybe that's just me....

Oh yes, that's a lovely colourway. Could we have a picture of the nine-patch pre-chop, to see where you started from? I always find it hard to visualise from the finished blocks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely comments everyone. I'll be getting even more big-headed soon if you're not careful.
ReplyDeleteSince you've asked, I will try and post instructions and photos on how to do it later today.
Beautiful job, and it went so fast! Yippie for you. The red blocks look pink, but when I clicked closer I saw it is really Moda's Red Snowflake print, I just love that fabric! I used in a quilt for my mom and it was a joy!
