Here are my latest ..............

This is made from a pattern in Kim's book.  I used a jelly roll called Faded Memories and a variety of neutrals from my own stash, so it's half scrappy!  I came to a full stop cos I wasn't sure a) what to do with it, and b) what to do about borders.   This evening I took it into my father to show him, and he liked it and pointed out it would look good in his lounge,so that's that sorted, and all it needs is just one very narrow border.

This is one I whipped up in one day!  I have seen similar quilts and suddenly thought, "I bet that would be really quick and easy to make".  So, I raided my stash again, and found loads of batiks and a white tone-on-tone.  Out of interest, I sort of timed myself with this one.  So yesterday I spent 30 minutes with my Go! cutter cutting the strips from FQs, then spent some quality time with my sewing machine.  After 3 hours, all I had to do was add the borders and I had a quilt top measuring 57" x 62".  How about that?

  11. why not put a wide, deep red border round the quilt your Dad has chosen Sue? I would look great - picking up the red in the quilt.

  19. I love the stacked coins. I've seen similar quilts too but I don't use much white in my quilts -- I think it's because I worry about stains showing and between donating quilts and giving them to my two boys, I want quilts that don't show stains!

How nice that your Dad wants the quilt - for tops that I'm not sure what to do with, they stay on the shelf for a while and then either become gifts when I need them or are eventually donated.
