Christmas Stars .............
........... this is what I was working on yesterday. The pattern is in Kim's fabulous book, Scrapbasket Surprises where it's called Summer Breeze. It certainly went together like a breeze. Although it's scrappy, in that I used a jelly roll, I did have to exercise some control over it, so I kept all my stars the same colour rather than random and in the other blocks I put the 2 light colours next to each other in the middle. I have still got to add the borders, and, they are pieced and scrappy, so that is going to be a challenge to me to not try and match them up too much. What was that? Did I hear someone call me a control freak? No, I knew I was mistaken.

It's beautiful! I like the placement of colours - does this make me a control freak too?!!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful Sue!! Love the fabric you chose for the quilt.I like to control the colors too!!!Haha!!
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time being completely random too. I try but then I find myself moving things around.
ReplyDeleteJust love it...I joined you for a bit last night and worked on a Christmas surprise...
ReplyDeleteI like the Christmas fabric and the red pinwheels, and the pattern is perfect for them. You really accomplished alot.
ReplyDeleteI like your new quilt that you are working on. Christmas colors but it is one that could be used throughout the year.

I love the way it turned out! Amazing that you got so much done while monitoring the computer too.
ReplyDeleteChristmas Stars is just wonderful, fantastic. It looks bright and cheery as well as Christmasy. Great work. Everyone is so ahead of me on the Christma sew along. I have to get through my eye surgery before I can think Christmas. Do enjoy see what has been done so far.
ReplyDeleteHave a super great day.
Wow, you really accoomplished a lot for a day! Most the time I am a bit controlled myself. I have really had to push myself to do scrap quilts trying to get rid of some of the bits and pieces of my stash. Oh, and thank you for the idea of that rail fence quilt. It went together so easily and looks great. Next time I may use smaller blocks and use it for a baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteVery nice quilt and I dont think you are a control freak just orgainized;)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the trying very hard to be scrappy! We're not control freaks, we're just tidy minded! Go on, you can do it.
ReplyDeleteA Quilter that needs control? No, really? ...never... The jelly roll added just the right touch of scrappy.
ReplyDeletePot ... kettle ... black ... shalln't be commenting on the scrappiness or otherwise of your quilt :o). I love what you've done, and to do that in the day is very impressive. My fabric should be here tomorrow, I'll definitely be joining in next month. Are you going to finish this quilt now, or do you have to wait for the next sew-a-long to do that??
ReplyDeleteNo Comment. I come out in a cold sweat when the word scrappy is mentioned.
ReplyDeleteLove how the quilt is looking
Love and hugs Gina xxx
I try to control the scrappy too! I got a that book yesterday and today I started cutting strips--that could take me awhile to get enough variety! Love the pinwheels!
ReplyDeleteSue, I just love this quilt. I was so inspired by it that I made a quilt like this as well. You can see it here. Thanks for the inspiration!
