.... I have been trying to find a copy of Quiltmaker Magazine, Sept/Oct 2002, which has a pattern in it called Turning Leaves, which is a positive/negative type of block. I've seen pictures of the block and of quilts using it on google images, but I can't show you cos of copyright, so I've tried to do a picture to give you the idea.
You have to use a bit of imagination here and imagine the central diamond shape is really a leaf!
I have tried the magazine's site, but they don't have it. I've tried googling, but can't find it there. I've tried Ebay, but can't find it there either. So I wonder if anyone out there in blogland has a copy they would be willing to sell? Please? Pretty please?
Try etsy. I found some back issues that I needed there once.
ReplyDeleteThis pattern looks familiar, I *might* have the magazine in the loft. Let me know if you can't find it anywhere else and I'll have a rummage!
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding what you need....if I had my storage I could rummage in my magazines for you...
ReplyDeleteI've seen that quilt made up a couple of times. Like SewAli I would have to have a rummage but there's a chance it might be in a cupboard somewhere ....
ReplyDeleteI love the series of positive/negative that Quiltmaker has been doing. I know I didn't start collecting quilt magazines until after 2002 though.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I have the issue, I look, get back to you.

I've seen it made up somewhere too, and I'm sure I have seen a free pattern on the WWW..... I'll keep thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteI did a search & found the link below
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=119160.0
Then i found on a blog http://appliqueandpatches.blogspot.com/2007/09/turning-leaves.html
A finished one & it does refer to Quiltmaker Mag which is the one you said
Looking at it if you can draw it on EQ or something then cut it diagonal so you do half in one set of colours then reverse it for the other set
Hope this helps
Hugs Janice
Just found the following link so you can buy the pattern

I am sorry that I do not have this magazine. It looks like the other commentors have some good sites to check out. If I find that I do have it, I well send an email.
ReplyDeleteHave a super great sewing day.
Oh I'd have to do some serious rumageing to see if I have a copy. Please don't hold you breath while I look, I may be some time! LOL
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of interest, our guild had a BOM and I won the blocks. I feel terrible as the blocks are still waiting to be assembled ... not enough hours in my day to keep up with all my projects. I have a picture of the completed quilt. If you can wait just a bit, I will inquire at our Guild to see if they still have the pattern on hand. I have searched my files and nothing. I have the magazine before and after but not the one you are looting for. I cannot believe that I threw it away.
ReplyDeleteWent back to my project Turning Leaves and YES, I have the pattern you are looking for. I can scan it for you, send me your e-mail address.
ReplyDeleteI have the pattern, I rip ones I like from magazines and saved this one but I'll never make it because I don't like to do appliqué. I'd be glad to mail it to you.
ReplyDeleteMy sister Deb made this for one of our family exchanges and it's beautiful made up....unfortunately Ann was the one who got Deb's quilt that time.
